In search of the Career Grand Slam: The Bryant Brothers

This morning I had the honor of seeing the quest for tennis history, by the Bryant Brothers at this U.S. Open. The match between the Bryant Brothers, and the very strong, competitive Canadian team of Nestor/Poposil.  Without question the BB Boys were very much on the brink of defeat, they prevailed. There is a simple joy watching them play. The mastery, the joy, grit they bring to each & every match, is something to marvel. So, often we lament the decline in American tennis, especially, among the men singles players, that we forget, the contribution that the Bryant Brothers have made. Think about it, without their presence in many of the Grand Slams, there is a chance that not  any American male players would be in Grand Slam finals.  Additionally, doubles once again have become relevant. The result, doubles have become extremely, competitive, because of the growth, as well, as diversity of doubles team.

It seems like yesterday, but the BB Boys have been around for quite awhile. That is another reason any tennis fan need to cherish, not only the current quest of the Bryant Brothers, but appreciating that the physical grind, playing so many matches, will one day take it toll. So every opportunity we have to witness yet another  BB Boys performance, we should cherish it.

The New York Invasion: Hottest Tennis on the Planet

The best of the best have invaded New York,  for the last major of the year. Already, there have been stunning results from matches played to date. The biggest to date perhaps being Sam Stosur lost to 17 year old Victoria Duval .

Who will be the  2013 U.S. Open Female Champion? The favorite acourse is the world’s no. 1 Serena Williams. Is it her’s to lose or will she be seriously challenged by Azarenka, Li, or others? Will Nadal continue his hard court dominance this year? Or will Murray be the first male to win back to back U.S. championships since Federer? Can Roger Federer, overcome doubters, and win yet another major? And what about Djokovic? Will he recapture his dominant play once again? Will the Bryant Bros. win yet another major? Will the Williams win another major doubles title?

Any serious tennis fan, have been thirsting for this year U.S. Open to begin. Who are your picks for this year?
